Julie Dawson

Julie Dawson is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin. In 2023, she was the lead author of a USDA-Agricultural Marketing Service Report about intellectual property rights and competition in the seed industry, and she has since begun working with the USDA to implement some of the report's recommendations. Julie researches diversified vegetable production for local markets in and around cities, which allows her to work with farmers and culinary professionals. In 2014, she established the Seed Kitchen Collaborative, which coordinates an extensive network of plant breeders, seed producers, farmers, chefs, and local food consumers.
