Susan Allen

Susan Allen is a Senior Copyright Attorney at the U.S. Office of Policy and International Affairs, where she represents the U.S. in various international fora and reviews foreign laws for compliance with international treaty obligations. Susan's work often requires her to translate the concepts of copyright laws into a language that her target audience can easily understand while also remaining aware of public policy goals or sensitive matters of cultural identity. She has previously served as counsel to the Senate Judiciary IP Subcommittee. She has also worked in private practice at Patton Boggs, which gave her a broad understanding of the various parties involved in IP law. Her advice to students is to communicate to others why they are interested in IP, take advantage of the wealth of IP association meetings in DC, and network strategically.
